PAYMENTS, WITH CONTEXT

CBD Merchant Processing

Product details come first.

An inquiry is not an application or approval.

BY SYMPLER BOOKS PRODUCT TEAMUpdated October 19, 2026 · Our approach ↗

Separate CBD from a general retail application.

Describe every product type, ingredient and sales channel accurately. A topical product, ingestible product and cannabis product are not interchangeable underwriting descriptions. Our current provider discussions do not establish blanket approval for CBD merchants.

Prepare a product-specific review.

  • Exact product catalog and ingredient labels.
  • Countries and states where products are sold and shipped.
  • Supplier information and available batch laboratory reports.
  • Website claims, refund terms, shipping times and customer support process.
  • Prior processing statements, refunds and disputes, when requested securely.

A laboratory report alone does not establish that a product or its marketing is lawful or acceptable to a processor.

Keep regulation and payment acceptance separate.

FDA guidance describes product-specific restrictions for cannabis-derived products. A processor’s willingness to review an application does not replace regulatory review. See the FDA cannabis and CBD resource and obtain advice for your actual products and markets.

Get the conditions in writing.

Ask whether the provider accepts your exact catalog, whether changes require prior review, and whether reserves, volume limits or additional monitoring apply. Do not activate checkout for a restricted product before receiving the necessary provider authorization.
