PAYMENTS, WITH CONTEXT

High Risk Merchant Processing

Understand the account before you commit.

An inquiry is not an application or approval.

Start with your business model, not a promised rate.

A higher-risk classification can reflect delivery delays, recurring billing, dispute exposure, product restrictions, or a provider’s own underwriting policy. It does not tell you whether a particular provider will approve your business. Sympler Books helps organize the initial inquiry; the processor and its banking partners make the decision.

Tell us what you sell, where you sell it, how customers pay, and when they receive the product. A clear description is more useful than a broad industry label.

Ask for a complete written offer.

  • Processing markup and per-transaction fees, separately from card-network and interchange costs.
  • Monthly, gateway, compliance, refund, dispute and termination charges.
  • Any rolling reserve: percentage, holding period, release schedule and conditions.
  • Payout timing, volume caps, ticket limits and what may trigger a hold.
  • Contract length, renewal, cancellation and ownership of stored payment credentials.

For example, a reserve withheld from settlement reduces cash received today; it is different from a processing fee. Your books should distinguish the gross sale, fee, refund, reserve balance and bank deposit.

What happens after your inquiry?

First we clarify your product, sales channel, geography and processing history. If there is a potential provider route, we ask for written eligibility and the appropriate application process. Submit financial statements and identity documents only through the provider’s verified secure channel. A preliminary discussion does not establish an account, price, or approval.

A realistic way to compare two offers.

Use the same monthly volume, average ticket, refund activity and card mix for both proposals. Compare total estimated costs and cash availability, then ask what changes if your sales grow or disputes rise. Do not compare a headline percentage that excludes fees with an all-in estimate.
